How Exploration Shapes Our Curriculum

At Mini Miracles Nursery, we follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum while integrating elements of Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches. Our philosophy is rooted in child-led learning, where children’s natural curiosity and interests guide their experiences, supported by nurturing practitioners who foster discovery and growth.

Our carefully designed environment serves as the “third teacher”-a thoughtfully curated space that encourages independence, exploration, and a lifelong love of learning. Practitioners observe, scaffold, and extend learning opportunities, engaging in meaningful conversations and hands-on experiences alongside the children.

At Mini Miracles, learning is a shared journey. Through play, discussion, and collaboration, children develop their understanding of the world, supported by both their peers and the dedicated adults who inspire them every step of the way.

How We Apply These Methods

Our assessment process transforms educational philosophy into
personalized learning experiences for every child.

Personalized Starting Points

At Mini Miracles, our approach to assessment is designed to meet each child's unique needs while following the British curriculum and the Development Matters framework. At the start of each school year, the class teacher conducts informal baseline observations to record what each child can already achieve. This "baseline assessment" helps guide our teaching approach, ensuring that our planning supports the development of every individual child.

Learning Through Interests

Assessment is an ongoing process. You'll notice teachers incorporating children's interests into their learning activities. For example, if a child is particularly drawn to construction, the teacher might use building blocks for counting exercises or shape recognition, combining play with skill development.

Capturing Growth Moments

In-the-moment photos are also an important part of our assessment process. Teachers document children's progress in their individual learning journeys, capturing milestones such as correct scissor use or letter formation.

Continuous Partnership

Parents receive formal feedback once a term through report cards, and we hold parent-teacher meetings where families can discuss their child's progress in more detail. This continuous, thoughtful assessment ensures that every child at Mini Miracles receives the support they need to thrive.
